2% is the secret
Apparently the junior doctors’ strike is a sign of the collapse of the NHS. It is nothing of the sort, except in the sense that the government has massively under funded our health service.
You can try to compare the NHS unfavourably to any system you like, French, German, even if you are a spluttering, right wing, nutter, the USA.
But the NHS is not over managed, over unionised or incompetent; it is underfunded.
The UK needs to spend 2% more of its GDP on health and social care and it needs to do it year after year.
Everything else is a lie, a distraction and a stitch up. The very people who hate the NHS, who have run it down and talked it down, who say it is unaffordable, are the very ones who will take any opportunity to destroy it.
For them this is just another chance to do that.
Economics, trade and Brexit, not necessarily in that order but the dog always comes first.
